Why the Penguin’s Loose in the Pantry

If you work in the SEO world or have a Website that you care about – chances are you’ve heard of Google’s new Penguin update.

The Penguin update is targeting web spam but it has also severily affecting Web sites that do adhere to Google’s Quality Guidelines.

Like many other SEO’s I’ve been searching for reasons about HOW this could happen.

… then I came across the video above.  I guess you could say that Google has literally dropped the ball on this one.  ;)

Seriously though, if your site has been affected and you don’t think it should have Google has provided a Penguin Feedback form.  Best of luck!

Listening to ARISSAT-1

This weekend Ella and were hiking the The Boulevard Trail in the Smokey Mountains.  Being so high up I took advantage of the elevation and began scanning 2 meter frequencies.  My FT-60 stopped at 145.995 mhz and I heard a faint transmission.

“This is ARISSAT-1 RS01″

I immediately recognized this as an Amateur Radio satellite transmission. I did my best to capture the transmission via video (below), however I later discovered that the video camera was actually creating interference.  Thanks to iMovie I was able to tweek the audio in this video so that it was more understandable. Enjoy the video!

Hiking Up Smoky Mountain’s Chimney Tops

I’ve really been enjoying my new 13 inch MacBook Pro and am very impressed with iMovie ’11.  It’s very easy to use and produces high quality results.  Perfect for amateur video enthusiast.

Helen and I went to the Smokey Mountains this past Fall and climbed up the Chimney Tops.

As you can imagine shooting video while your hiking can make for a shaky video but iMovie has a feature that will analyze your video and apply image stabilization. Now I can create short movies from video footage that was unusable because it was too shaky.  Enjoy the video!
