I’m always looking for a new adventure and the ones that I like the most are the ones right beneath your feet.
I’ve visited Shaker Village when I was a kid, and have been back a few times since, but I never thought of it as a place for a short hike. There are actually several trails to pick from and a nice map to guide you.
Today I choose to explore the River Road Trail which takes you down to the Kentucky River on an old road; much of it carved from the side of a limestone cliff. I saw a lot of wildlife along the way – 2 fawns, lots of frogs, a couple of rabbits, and turkey buzzards. The trail goes through a cow pasture and there is no fence so if you find your self face-to-face with a cow don’t be surprised!
